Design Wall Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 19, 2026 · Last updated: October 21, 2026
This policy explains what information Design Wall collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the Design Wall app for Mac and iPad and our website, quiltdesignwall.com.
Design Wall is made by Agentic Expressions LLC ("we", "us"), a North Carolina limited liability company, 4030 Wake Forest Rd Ste 349, Raleigh, NC 27609-0010, USA. For data protection law purposes, we're the controller of the personal information described here.
The short version
- Your quilts are yours. The designs, blocks, fabrics, and photos you make or add in Design Wall are stored on your device. We can't see them.
- Pattern PDFs you import stay with you. They're kept on your own devices, and the app never uploads them to our servers. A page reaches us only if it shows in a feedback report's screenshot, picture or screen recording and you choose to send it.
- No ads, no tracking, no selling. Design Wall has no advertising, doesn't track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell or rent your information.
- We collect very little: what we need to deliver fabric packs, answer your emails, and fix bugs.
1. What stays on your device
Most of what Design Wall handles is never sent to us.
Your work. Quilt patterns, blocks, colorways, your fabric stash, fabric photos, and your settings are stored in the app's storage on your device.
Photos. When you add a photo of your fabric, Design Wall only sees the photos you choose. It doesn't read the rest of your library.
Imported pattern PDFs. When you import a pattern, Design Wall reads it on your device using Apple's built-in text recognition and on-device intelligence. No part of it is sent to an AI service, and none of it is sent to us unless a page shows in a feedback report you choose to send (below). The app keeps its own copy so you can refer back to the original pages. That copy is stored on your device. It's never uploaded to our servers, never placed anywhere shared or public, and never attached to feedback or crash reports. It's deleted when you delete the imported pattern.
On-device intelligence. Where Design Wall uses Apple Intelligence to help read a pattern, it uses Apple's on-device model only. Your content isn't sent to us, to Apple, or to any other AI provider for this, and we don't use your content to train any model.
Device backups. Your own device backups (for example Finder or Time Machine backups of your Mac, or iCloud Backup of your iPad) may include Design Wall's data. Your backup provider's terms apply to those backups.
2. What we collect, and why
Fabric pack downloads
When Design Wall checks for new fabric packs or downloads one, your device connects to our content host, Cloudflare. Like any web request, it includes your IP address, the time, and basic technical details such as your operating system version.
To prove the request comes from a real copy of Design Wall, the app first sends the record of your download that Apple signs for every copy. It holds the app's App Store transaction identifier: an identifier Apple gives your Apple Account for Design Wall. It isn't your name, your email address or your Apple Account sign-in, but it is the same on all your devices and if you reinstall. Apple's record also holds details of the download, such as the app's versions, when you first downloaded it, and a value Apple uses to tie the record to your device. In return the host gives the app a pass that carries the identifier and lasts 15 minutes, and the app sends that pass with each pack request. Nothing about your quilts is sent.
We use this only to deliver the pack you asked for and to protect the service from abuse: we count how many download sessions each identifier starts in an hour, and if a copy is being shared or misused we keep its identifier on a block list so its requests are refused. The count lets us tell that several downloads came from the same Apple Account. We don't keep the rest of Apple's record, and we don't build a profile from any of it. Cloudflare may keep short-lived logs for security and operations.
Agreeing to our terms
The first time you open a quilt or a block, import a pattern, or add fabric packs, the app asks you to agree to our Terms of Use. If our terms change significantly, it asks again the next time you do one of those. It keeps a note on your device of which version you agreed to and when, and of any later minor update to the terms it has shown you. The note stays on your device, and we don't receive it.
The first time you start the app, it also checks our website for a newer copy of the Terms of Use and this policy, and downloads one if there is. Like any visit to our website, this includes your IP address, the time, and basic technical details such as your operating system version. Nothing about your quilts is sent with it.
Purchases
In-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment card, billing address, or Apple Account password. Apple gives us transaction details (the product, date, country, and a transaction identifier) so the app can unlock what you bought, and so we can meet our tax and accounting obligations. Your purchase is checked on your device.
Support emails and feedback reports
When you email us, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you attach.
When you send a feedback report from the app, the app puts it together in one file, and nothing is sent until you choose where it goes: straight to us with Send, or anywhere you like with Share (an email, a message, or a file you keep). A report includes:
| Always | Only if you leave it in |
|---|---|
| What you write | A screenshot of the window you were using. The app takes it when you open the feedback form, and shows it to you there; you can remove it, or choose a different picture, before you send |
| A screen recording, if you attach one: up to 90 seconds, made smaller by the app before it's added. You can remove it before you send | |
| Design Wall's own log lines since the app last started, plus the last steps from the launch before, with no names or file paths | |
| The crash and speed reports your device collected for Design Wall, if there are any (the same kind Apple can send us, below) | |
| App version and build, OS version, and device model (for example "iPad13,4") |
A feedback report never contains your pattern PDF, and the app never adds a page from it. A page can still show in the window screenshot, or in a picture or screen recording you add, so check them before you send. We use them only to fix the problem, and delete them with the report.
When you send a report straight to us, the app first proves it's a real copy of Design Wall, the same way it does for fabric packs (above): it sends the record of your download that Apple signs, and gets back a pass that lasts 15 minutes. Like any web request, this includes your IP address, the time, and basic technical details, and Cloudflare may keep short-lived logs for security and operations. The report then goes to a private storage area at Cloudflare that only we can read, with the time it arrived, its size and the app's version. We file it with the app's App Store transaction identifier: an identifier Apple gives your Apple Account for Design Wall. It isn't your name, your email address or your Apple Account sign-in, but it is the same on all your devices and if you reinstall, so it lets us tell that two reports came from you. We use it only to keep your reports together and to stop anyone flooding us with fake ones: we count passes per identifier for two hours and reports per identifier for a day or two, and if one identifier floods us we keep it on a block list so its reports are refused. As with packs, we don't keep the rest of Apple's record.
We use a report only to answer you and fix problems.
Crash and performance reports
If you've turned on Share with App Developers in your device's Analytics & Improvements settings, Apple sends us crash reports and performance statistics. They don't identify you, and you can turn this off in those same settings.
Your device also hands Design Wall its own copy of these reports: about once a day, a summary of how the app performed, and, after a crash, a hang, or heavy disk or processor use, where in the app's code it happened. The app keeps the most recent 30 of each kind on your device, each labelled with the app's version and build (including the code it was built from, and whether it is a test build), the OS version, whether it ran on a Mac or an iPad, a size band for your library (small, medium, large, or unknown; never a count or a name), and a random session number drawn each time the app starts, so we can tell which reports came from the same run. The session number is new at every launch and isn't tied to you, your device or your purchase, unless you send the reports to us in a feedback report from the app, which we file as described above. They describe the app, not your quilts, fabrics or files, and they never leave your device by themselves. You can share them with Settings → Send diagnostics, to anywhere you choose, and a feedback report includes them (above).
The beta sign-up
If you sign up on our website to test Design Wall, we keep your email address, which device you said you'd test on, which page you signed up from, and when you signed up. Your first and last name, and how you heard about us, are kept only if you choose to tell us. Signing up again with the same address updates your entry rather than adding a second one.
The list is stored by Cloudflare, which hosts our website. We use it only to invite you to the beta and to email you about it. We give your email address, and your name if you gave it, to Apple so that TestFlight can send you the invitation to install the test version. From then on, Apple's Privacy Policy covers what TestFlight does with it. Our emails about the beta come from our own mailbox, hosted by Google Workspace.
To check that a person, not a bot, is signing up, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at your IP address and technical details from your browser. Cloudflare uses them for that check and to improve its bot detection, as its Turnstile privacy addendum describes.
To be taken off the list, reply to any email about the beta or write to [email protected], and we'll delete your entry.
Our website
Our website is hosted by Cloudflare, which receives your IP address and standard browser information whenever you visit. We don't use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
3. What we don't do
- We don't sell your personal information, and we don't "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as California law defines it.
- We don't show ads, and we don't include advertising or third-party tracking code in the app.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't look at, scan, or train AI on your quilts, photos, or patterns. The one exception is what you choose to send us in a feedback report or email, which we look at only to help you.
- We don't buy information about you from data brokers.
5. How long we keep it
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Fabric pack request logs | Kept by Cloudflare for a short period for security; we don't keep them |
| The count of fabric pack download sessions per App Store transaction identifier | Two hours |
| An App Store transaction identifier on the fabric pack block list | Until we remove it from the list |
| Purchase records | As long as tax and accounting law requires, usually 7 years |
| Support emails | 24 months after our last message, then deleted |
| Feedback reports you send us by email or message, or that we download from our storage, the whole file | Deleted within 90 days after the issue is resolved |
| Feedback reports sent from the app, and the App Store transaction identifier filed with each one | Deleted automatically about 90 days after they arrive |
| The count of passes for sending feedback per App Store transaction identifier | Two hours |
| The count of reports sent from the app per App Store transaction identifier | Two days |
| An App Store transaction identifier on the feedback block list | Until we remove it from the list |
| The beta sign-up list | Until the beta ends, then deleted within 90 days. Sooner if you ask us to take you off it |
6. Your rights and choices
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy
- correct it
- delete it
- send it to you in a portable format
- stop using it for a particular purpose, or object to how we use it
- withdraw consent you gave us, for example for the beta sign-up
Email [email protected]. We may need to confirm it's really you. We'll reply within one month, and let you know if we need longer. We won't treat you differently for asking.
Your own content is already in your hands. Everything in §1 is on your device. Delete it in the app, or delete the app. We can't delete it for you, because we never had it.
In the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. We'd appreciate the chance to sort it out first.
In the United States, some states (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others) give residents specific privacy rights. We give everyone the rights listed above. We don't sell or share personal information for targeted advertising, so there's nothing to opt out of, but our website respects Global Privacy Control signals anyway.
7. Our legal basis (EU, EEA, UK, and Switzerland)
| What we do | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Deliver fabric packs and app content you ask for | Performing our contract with you |
| Process purchases and keep purchase records | Contract, and legal obligation (tax and accounting) |
| Answer support emails and feedback reports | Our legitimate interest in helping you and fixing the app |
| Crash and performance reports | Our legitimate interest in keeping the app working. You control this in your device settings |
| Run the beta sign-up, and send beta invitations and emails | Your consent, which you can withdraw at any time |
| Security, abuse prevention, and legal compliance | Legitimate interest, and legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we've weighed them against your rights, and you can object at any time.
International transfers. We're based in the United States, so your information will be processed there. Where we transfer personal information out of the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum), or on a provider's certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
8. Children
Design Wall isn't directed at children under 13, or under 16 in the EU, EEA, and UK. We don't knowingly collect personal information from them. You can use every creative feature of the app without giving us any personal information at all. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we'll delete it.
9. Security
The app keeps your work on your device, and everything it sends goes over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We give service providers only what they need, limit who can reach the information we hold, and keep it only as long as §5 says. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your personal information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, for example if we start collecting something new, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Earlier versions are available on request.
