Design Wall Terms of Use
Effective date: October 19, 2026 · Last updated: October 19, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Agentic Expressions LLC ("we", "us"), the maker of Design Wall. They cover the Design Wall app for Mac and iPad, its fabric packs and block library, and our website. By downloading or using Design Wall, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information, and it's part of these terms.
The short version
- What you design is yours, and so are the quilts you make, including ones you sell.
- Import only patterns and pictures you have the right to use. Keep other people's patterns, and what the app makes from them, to yourself unless the designer allows sharing. Pattern designers' copyright still applies.
- Check before you cut. Design Wall does the math carefully, but measurements, yardage, and on-screen colors can be wrong. Always check them against your pattern and your fabric.
- Fabric names belong to their manufacturers. We're not affiliated with them.
1. Your license to use Design Wall
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Design Wall on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules, including Family Sharing. We license the app to you. We don't sell it.
You agree not to:
- copy, modify, or distribute the app, except as the law expressly allows
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble it, except where the law allows despite this restriction
- extract, copy, or republish the block library or fabric pack data as a collection, or use it to build a competing product
- get around purchase checks, or unlock paid content without paying for it
- use Design Wall to break the law or infringe anyone's rights
2. Your designs and your quilts
You own what you create. Quilt designs, colorways, photos you take, and everything else you make in Design Wall belong to you. We claim no ownership of them. We can't see them either, because they stay on your device.
Your quilts are yours to use however you like. You can sew, give, sell, exhibit, and enter in shows any quilt you design with Design Wall's own blocks and tools.
You can use what the app produces. You can use images, cutting charts, coloring pages, and yardage lists that Design Wall generates from your own designs for any purpose, including in patterns you publish or sell. The only exception is the rule in §1 about republishing the block library or fabric data as a collection. What Design Wall makes from an imported pattern, and material someone else made that you add, are covered by §3, not by this paragraph.
Block credits. Many blocks in our library are traditional designs. Some are credited to the modern designer who created the arrangement. A credit tells you where a block came from. It isn't an endorsement, and it doesn't mean that designer has reviewed or approved Design Wall. When you share your work, we encourage you to keep the credit.
A quilt based on someone else's pattern is different: see §3.
3. Imported patterns and other material you add
Design Wall can read pattern PDFs so you can plan a quilt from them. These rules apply:
Import only what you have the right to use: patterns you bought, were given by the designer, or created yourself.
Imported patterns are for your own personal use. Pattern designers own the copyright in their instructions, diagrams, photographs, and layouts. Importing a pattern doesn't change what the designer allows, and these terms give you no rights in anyone else's pattern. Don't use Design Wall to copy, share, sell, post, or republish an imported pattern or pages from it, whether you print, screenshot, or export them.
What Design Wall makes from an imported pattern is for your own use too. That includes cutting charts, yardage lists, coloring pages, and pictures of a quilt laid out from someone else's pattern. Don't share or sell them unless the pattern's designer allows it.
Follow the designer's terms. You agree to follow them, including what they say about selling or sharing quilts made from the pattern, and about teaching with it. They're usually printed on the pattern or the shop page.
Other material you add. For anything else you add that someone else made, such as a fabric picture saved from a shop's website or a photo of a printed pattern, add only what you have the right to use. Use it to plan your quilts, and don't share or sell the material itself unless its owner allows it.
Your file stays with you. Design Wall processes imports on your device and keeps them only on your own devices. It never uploads them to our servers. A page reaches us only if it shows in a feedback report you choose to send, in the window screenshot or a picture you add, and then we use it only to fix the problem. We don't review or distribute your imports (see the Privacy Policy). That also means you're responsible for what you import and how you use it.
Automatic reading can make mistakes. Design Wall reads patterns by software, not by a person, and it can misread a number, a fraction, or a diagram. Always check what it extracted against the original pattern before you cut. See §5.
4. Fabric packs, colors, and trademarks
Colors are estimates. Fabric colors in Design Wall are estimated from photographs and published data, and every screen shows color differently. Check against a real color card or the fabric itself before you buy or cut.
Trademarks belong to their owners. Fabric ranges, color names, manufacturer names, and designer names in Design Wall are trademarks or names of their respective owners. We use them only to identify the fabrics. Design Wall isn't affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any fabric manufacturer, retailer, or designer unless we clearly say so.
5. Measurements, yardage, and cutting
Design Wall calculates cutting sizes, yardage, and layouts from the information you give it and the patterns you import. We work hard to get these right, but they're planning aids, not guarantees. Fabric shrinks, seam allowances vary, patterns contain errors, and software can too.
Before you buy or cut fabric, check the numbers yourself. To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for fabric you buy, cut, or waste, or for time spent, because of a calculation, estimate, or color shown in Design Wall.
6. Purchases
Apple handles payment. In-app purchases are made through the App Store under Apple's terms. Apple handles billing and refunds, so please send refund requests to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Paid content is licensed, not sold, under the same license as §1.
Content you've bought keeps working. If we ever stop selling a fabric or block pack, it stays usable on your devices where technically possible, and quilts you've already made with it won't break.
Prices and availability may change, but a change never affects something you've already bought.
7. Accounts
You don't need an account to use Design Wall, and we don't currently offer one. If we add accounts, we'll update these terms first.
8. Feedback and suggestions
We love hearing from quilters. If you send us an idea or suggestion, you agree we can use it freely without owing you anything. That doesn't apply to your personal information or your own designs, which stay yours and are covered by the Privacy Policy, or to anyone else's pattern or picture that shows in what you send.
9. Our content
Design Wall, including its software, artwork, block library as a compilation, fabric pack data, and the name and logo "Design Wall", belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. These terms don't give you any rights in it beyond the license in §1 and the permissions in §2.
10. Copyright concerns
We respect creators' rights. If you believe something we ship in Design Wall (a block, a fabric pack, an image, or text) infringes your copyright or trademark, email [email protected] with:
- your name and contact details
- what you believe is infringed, and your right to it
- where it appears in Design Wall
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, and that your notice is accurate
We'll look into it promptly. Design Wall doesn't publish or share anything our users import or create, so we can't act on content that exists only on someone's own device.
11. Other services
Design Wall works with services from other companies, such as Apple's App Store. Their own terms apply when you use them, and we're not responsible for them.
12. Changes to the app and to these terms
We may update Design Wall, add or remove features, or stop offering it. Some updates may be needed to keep using it. If we change these terms significantly, we'll tell you in the app or on our website before the change takes effect. If you keep using Design Wall after that, you accept the new terms. If you don't accept them, stop using the app.
13. Disclaimer
To the extent the law allows, Design Wall is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise the app will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that its calculations, colors, or pattern readings will be accurate.
Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived, such as statutory rights in the EU, UK, or Australia.
14. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost fabric, materials, time, profits, or data, arising from your use of Design Wall. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Design Wall in the 12 months before the claim, or US $50.
Some places don't allow these limits. Where that's the case, they apply only as far as the law permits. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't legally be limited.
15. Ending this agreement
You can stop using Design Wall at any time by deleting it. If you seriously break these terms, your license ends automatically. When the agreement ends, stop using the app. Sections 2, 3, 5, 8, 9, and 13–18 continue after it ends.
16. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in Wake County, North Carolina, though either of us can use small-claims court if the claim qualifies.
If you're a consumer in the EU, UK, or another country whose law protects you here, you keep the protection of your home country's mandatory laws, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
Please contact us first. Most problems can be sorted out by email.
17. App Store terms
If you got Design Wall from Apple's App Store:
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for Design Wall and its content.
- Scope. Your license is limited to using Design Wall on Apple-branded products you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. Other accounts linked to the purchaser through Family Sharing or volume purchasing may also use it.
- Support. We're solely responsible for maintenance and support. Apple has no obligation to provide any.
- Warranty. If Design Wall fails to meet any warranty that applies and hasn't been effectively disclaimed, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the maximum extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Design Wall. We, not Apple, are responsible for any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses caused by a failure to meet a warranty.
- Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims by you or a third party about Design Wall or your use of it, including (i) product liability claims, (ii) claims that it doesn't meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and (iii) claims under consumer protection, privacy, or similar laws.
- Intellectual property. If a third party claims that Design Wall, or your possession or use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling, and discharging that claim.
- Legal compliance. You confirm that (i) you're not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated by the US Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and (ii) you're not listed on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Contact. Questions, complaints, and claims about Design Wall go to us, at the address in §19.
- Third-party terms. You must follow any applicable third-party terms, such as your internet provider's, when using Design Wall.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary, and is treated as having accepted that right.
18. General
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Design Wall. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a right straight away, we haven't given it up. You can't transfer these terms to someone else. We can transfer them to a new owner of Design Wall, who must keep to them.
